I wonder how she'd feel about my othet observations? I suspect she'd be okay.
I don't just rescue frogs by picking them off the road - i build little stone carns at the edge to help any later ones climb up over the high curb wall.
For the past couple weeks, just after dawn, I have been shaken from a sound sleep by a very strange sound.
*thwap-thwap-thwap* *thwap* *thwap-thwap-wap* etc.
An animal, yes. But not burrowing. Not eating. No, this sounded like it was flopping around back and forth inside the gutter. Not in the attic above because it never sounded anywhere in my ceiling. Just back and forth in front of my windows.
This morning i was annoyed enough that I got out of bed to go pound on the wall to try to scare it/them off. I saw 2 birds sitting on phone wire staring intently at the roof. They waited until the sound stopped and then flew up and the sound began again.
The house shingles are not in good shape and I am betting these birds are taking turns using the loose grit to take a dirt bath!
I feel so clever. Sleepless and clever.
Went to Planned Parenthood yesterday. Got my cancer screening done. Yay! (Altho i wont know the results for awhile. So maybe Yay.) Had a few questions answered and everyone was exceptionally nice. Yay! I supported! I did not realize they can do mammograms so will be using them for that in the future as well. I did take one of the free condoms. Just because!
Then i went to the used bookstore and lost my ever loving mind. 3 full bags worth in under an hour. Sheesh! 3 children's books that teach Chinese characters, a book of Johnathan Winter's art (yes, comedian), 1 on Vemeer painting (light!), famous speeches because i want to read a sensible one afger this week, 1 called Topsy Turvy of illustrations that look like one thing and then you flip the book over and it is something else with little verses to go along with them. (Exceptionally well done. Think it dates from the late 1800's). And...more. Wont bore. :)
Now as a side note, i think I have brought fleas home from work /again/. This always happens at least once a year. Filthy, dirty customers. Grr! But my usual solution has been to medicate my cats and allow /them/ to poison the parasites to death. I dont have a cat. I vaguely remember trying to irradicate fleas before I got a cat and it was a lot of garlic and spraying and vaccumming with no success. :/
I wonder if I could borrow someone's cat for a week...
