Have you heard this one? A (mostly) homeless woman was staying with friends. She enrolled her son in a public school in a town about half an hour drive away. That town found out that they are not residents and is charging her with stealing an education. Yes, blah blah blah, but no they are seriously /charging/ her with this. Some amount of money, like $14,000?, and years in jail. On the one hand the town has a point. On the other there are 'activists' saying you can't charge her because she has a right to give her child the best education possible. Umm…Umm. I don't quite know where I stand on this? I suppose she should have enrolled her kid in the town they actually lived in, even if they weren't paying taxes. Charging her is a little wacky.
