hat trick of F

let's see...
Management screwed up and screwed me
Co-workers screwed up and screwed me
Union screwed up...and screwed me
More than that - they are screwing ALL of my dealers!

Yet they wonder why I'm mad at them?

some thoughts

My father was a gentle man. Sometimes too gentle for my likings. I thought he sometimes allowed people to walk on him. Okay, he did. I suppose he had his reasons. It still bothers me. But all in all he was a gentle man.
He was also in military school, served in the army 169th, was an expert marksman, and earned blackbelts in two martial arts.
My brothers like to say they never heard him curse. I think they must have lived in a different house. Truth is he /almost/ cursed. "ShhhhhIP in the harbor!" "Son of A!" "Shhhhaving cream!" "Sheep Dip!". He didn't use the F word.
My dad was a construction worker. So...take that into account. A non-cussing construction worker. In New York City. Yeah.
That's another thing, my dad spent most of his life living and working in The City.
My dad had ME for a kid. He managed to not knock me out and replace me with another. Maybe he feared the replacement.
In an age of "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home" my dad was pretty fair about the spankings. He would lose his temper, sure. Me too. But the unofficial rules were that you run by dad, heading for your room, and he swings at you. You time your pass so that you don't end up bruised and yet he gets enough contact that his anger feels appeased. It was a good arrangement.
Almost forgot, my dad managed to be a leader. A boss. Respected. Without cursing or yelling. People just listened to him. He was a guest lecturer. I do not share this talent. I have no leadership. But I have spine. I think dad manged a better combo than I. More successful.
No, seriously, the gentle thing got on my nerves sometimes. I need advice here, dad! Advice on winning! Not 'let it go'. Hrumph. Maybe it isn't something you can teach. Like math. Dad trying to teach me math was Epic.
"blah blah X, blah blah Y, blah blah blah. See?"
"I don't get it."
"BLAH BLAH X BLAH BLAH Y BLAH BLAH BLAH!"
"You said the same thing. I still don't get it."
"BLAH BLAH X! Right there!"
"I can SEE it. I don't know what it MEANS!"
"BLAH BLAH X!"

I dunno. Just processing I suppose.

political language

It is not my idea, but I support the idea that we need to use appropriate adjectives and terminology in politics. And tone.
We need to stop calling medicare an "entitlement". We need to stop saying the word with a snear, mocking the very -IDEA- that hey, /any/ American is "entitled" to being able to pay medical bills or, god forbid, RETIRE with a little dignity. Heaven forbid. No one is entitled to THAT in this country.

And no one calls the defense budget an "entitlement". Why not? No one calls the bush tax cuts "entitlements". wth?

We, as Americans, are damn well Yes ENTTITLED to live and breathe and exist and pursue our damn HAPPINESS. All of us. We, The People. Not We The Corporations. Not We The Happy Few. We THE PEOPLE. Have pitchforks and torches and we're getting damn well pissed off. Unfortunately, we are also dumb as bricks. We are a village of idiots. And we vote. *sigh*

And since it seems about the only joy I shall have in the end, allow me to start now...

I TOLD YOU SO!!

republican strategy

First, big Thank You to Mississippi voters. I is woman and I appreciate.

I have had an epiphany. I have them a lot, but mostly it is things like "mint icream is green" which I keep to myself. (btw mint ice cream is green.) But I have realized that the Republicans pushing on Church (there can be only one *swish*) and Marriage and Pro-Life ...this is all what they base their social services on. Your /family/, neighbors, and church should all be the ones picking up the bill if something happens to you. Not their tax money.

See? Yeah? Clever, right?

Of course this makes me wonder how much they themselves kick into the collection basket. How much would they donate if there were no tax breaks in it for them?
Am I cynical? You bet your sweet bippie. But is it still cynacism if it is correct?

Hey, which reminds me -Get ready for the whole Gay Marriage thing to get blown up into the election dust storm of "no no pay attention to THIS instead of the issues!" The Respect of Marriage Act is coming.

(Seriously, they lower the taxes on the rich and raise Your taxes and you /like/ them? Put down the kook-aid.)
